Impressive German Modular Tiny House

BLOXS built a 260-square-foot prototype modular tiny house in 2021. The home features a welded steel frame, which is extremely strong and durable.

Tiny house innovations are even more exciting! BLOXS founder Thomas brings German premium automotive industry standards to the tiny home.

They build high-quality, modular tiny homes with innovative home technology, sustainable materials, and space-saving features. Even more impressive, their home complies with strict German building codes.

BLOXS built a 260-square-foot prototype modular tiny house in 2021. The home features a welded steel frame, which is extremely strong and durable. But they found steel buildings had significant disadvantages.

For example, BLOX has problems with the thermal bridge, especially in winter. So they invested in building physics engineers to find the solution.

Starting in 2022, BLOXS changes to CLT, which is cross-laminated wood. It is an eco-friendly solid, engineered and prefabricated wood panel system. Despite being lightweight, they are extremely strong, with superior acoustic, fire, seismic and thermal performance.

It's way more expensive to build. As a result, the BLOX's price is slightly higher than average, but all the high-end features come standard. The smallest model, now 400 square feet, starts at 150,000 Euros, and the largest model starts at 300,000 Euros.

As you can see in the BLOXS prototype, key design priorities include living spaces that are open and comfortable while being a fully functional and energy-efficient homes. They use three different heating systems, all connected to the smart home system.

The central heating is an electric radiant floor mat. The mini-split provides additional heating and cooling. But most impressive is the computer-controlled solar air collector. It has automatic ventilation. When sunlight hits the roof-mounted collecting unit, the air in the pipes is heated to be expelled inside the house as needed.

Extensive solar panel systems can also be installed on the roof. The German modular tiny house has an additional green feature, electric vehicle charging. BLOXS plans to take it one step further with two-way charging. This means your EV can act as an external home battery so that the stored energy from the car will return to the house.

Due to the nature of modular homes that comply with this code, they can be placed in different areas of Germany. This bodes well for the planned expansion into the United States and Canada. BLOXS is actively seeking North American partners to manufacture these homes.

It will likely easily meet US residential building standards for modular construction. So this is acceptable in many areas where modular housing is allowed. On their website, you can sign up to be notified when German modular tiny homes will be available in North America.

Meanwhile, build your own BLOXS house with their live 3D rendering technology. With the configurator, you can choose from various finishes and furniture to get a total price. You can also browse the home for different layout views. If you do it on your smartphone, you can use augmented reality to place a BLOXS house on your land. Save and print PDF.
